Community Calm CIC: 2 Years of Mental Health Support & Nature-Based Healing (2026)

Community Calm CIC in Maidenhead marks two years of promoting wellbeing through peer support, green social prescribing, and nature-based activities. This mental health organisation has been working with NHS Social Prescribing Teams, Community Mental Health Teams, Slough CVS, and local charities to support people experiencing isolation, anxiety, bereavement, caring responsibilities, and neurodiversity.

Meena Kalsi, founder and director, reflects on the impact of nature, connection, and peer support on mental health recovery. She expresses gratitude to members, volunteers, healthcare partners, and supporters for building a welcoming community where people feel valued and supported. The organisation's activities and sessions take place at various locations, including The Wildlife Trust in Windsor Great Park and Herschel Park in Slough, offering peer support groups, wellbeing sessions, and National Trust walks.

To celebrate their second anniversary, Community Calm hosted a lunch at The White Hart in Holyport, attended by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Sian Martin, and members of the Maidenhead Primary Care Network Social Prescribing Team. The event also honoured the contributions of the charity's volunteers with appreciation gifts.

Community Calm's unique approach follows a closed-group model, providing a safe, non-clinical pathway to recovery for those currently receiving or transitioning from clinical care. The organisation continues to expand its services and partnerships across the local area, leaving a lasting impact on the community's mental health and wellbeing.
